How the Bitcoin Profit Calculator works
The calculator converts your fiat investment into a Bitcoin amount at the price you bought, then values that same amount at your exit price. The difference between the two fiat values is your profit or loss. Exchange fees, spreads and taxes are not included, so treat the result as a clean before-costs figure.
Formula
BTC purchased = Investment ÷ Buy priceFinal value = BTC purchased × Sell priceProfit = Final value − InvestmentROI % = (Profit ÷ Investment) × 100
Worked example
| Investment | $1,000 |
|---|---|
| Buy price | $50,000 |
| Sell price | $75,000 |
| BTC purchased | 0.02 BTC |
| Final value | $1,500 |
| Profit | $500 |
| ROI | +50.00% |
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculator include exchange fees?
No. It shows the raw difference between your entry and exit value. Trading fees, withdrawal fees and spreads reduce real profit, so subtract those separately.
Can I use it for a position I still hold?
Yes. Put the current market price in the sell price field and the result becomes your unrealised profit or loss.
What does ROI mean here?
Return on investment expressed as a percentage of the money you put in. A 50% ROI means you finished with 1.5x your original stake.
Is a negative result possible?
Yes. If your sell price is below your buy price the calculator reports a negative profit and a negative ROI.
