How the Bitcoin Investment Calculator works

The initial investment buys Bitcoin at your entry price. Each recurring contribution buys more at the average price you supply, which is where a real dollar-cost-averaging plan differs from a lump sum: your average cost lands between the highs and lows rather than on a single day. Everything you bought is then valued at the current price.

Formula

  • BTC from lump sum = Initial investment ÷ Entry price
  • BTC from recurring = (Monthly amount × Months) ÷ Average recurring price
  • Total invested = Initial investment + (Monthly amount × Months)
  • Current value = Total BTC × Current price
  • Average cost = Total invested ÷ Total BTC

Frequently asked questions

Where does the historical entry price come from?

From the configured market data provider, if it exposes historical prices. When it does not, the field stays manual and the page states the limitation rather than estimating a price.

How accurate is the recurring investment estimate?

It is exactly as accurate as the average price you give it. A real plan buys at a different price every month, so a single average is a simplification — a useful one for sizing a decision, not a substitute for your exchange statement.

Does it model taxes or fees?

No. Fees and tax treatment vary by country and platform, so they are left out entirely rather than guessed at.

Is this investment advice?

No. It is an arithmetic tool that shows what a set of prices would have produced. Past price movement tells you nothing reliable about future prices.
