How the Bitcoin ATH Tracker works
Two numbers drive this page: the current price and the highest price ever recorded by the market data provider. The drawdown is measured against the high, while the recovery figure is measured against today's price — which is why a 50% fall needs a 100% rise to undo.
Formula
Distance from ATH % = ((Current − ATH) ÷ ATH) × 100Gap = ATH − Current priceRecovery needed % = ((ATH − Current) ÷ Current) × 100
Frequently asked questions
Where does the all-time high figure come from?
From the market data provider configured in the plugin settings, together with the date it was set and the source name. Nothing is hardcoded, and no figure is displayed if the provider does not return one.
Why do different sites report slightly different all-time highs?
Each aggregator builds its index from a different set of exchanges and weights them differently, so peak prints vary by a small margin. The source shown on this page tells you which index this figure came from.
Why is the recovery percentage bigger than the drawdown?
Because they use different denominators. Falling 50% from the high means the price must double from where it now sits, which is a 100% gain.
